An Eagle Farm manufacturer is shifting gears to the global stage after landing a $12 million deal to send rugged 4×4 equipment to the United Arab Emirates.

The deal for Tough Gear Trading was announced recently, marking a significant win for the local manufacturing sector. This agreement will see equipment designed in Queensland shipped to one of the most demanding environments in the world. It is a major step for the company, which already sells its products to more than 30 countries. The new contract is expected to support skilled jobs in the area and boost the local economy.

Tough Gear Trading is a Brisbane-based, Australian-owned company that has grown significantly since its establishment in 2015. While the company itself is relatively young, it brings over 28 years of experience across the mining, commercial, military, and 4×4 sectors. Founder Gary Turner started the operation as a single-operator business, but it has since evolved into a global enterprise with a presence in multiple international markets.

The company is guided by the Turner family, who combine technical expertise with strategic project management to serve their clients. They have earned a reputation as a trusted one-stop provider, supplying high-quality vehicle components to non-governmental organisations, commercial clients, and military forces worldwide. The business has also received endorsement from the Australian Defence Force, which the company notes allows them to showcase their brand with even greater confidence.

Founder Gary Turner credited the company’s success to its ability to innovate and adapt to different needs. He noted that their strength comes from being able to handle complex projects that involve sending fleets of vehicles across international borders. According to Turner, the company manages everything from sourcing materials to manufacturing and delivering the final solutions.

The state government highlighted this deal as an example of how a focused trade strategy can help local businesses. Officials stated that the goal is to target markets where Queensland companies have a real chance to compete and win. The approach involves moving away from general overseas activities and focusing on clear commercial results.

Minister for Trade Ros Bates explained that the government wants to ensure support is effective and provides value for money. She noted that companies like Tough Gear Trading put in the hard work to compete internationally, and the government’s role is to back them up with a strategy that strengthens local manufacturing. Bates added that this kind of targeted support gives businesses the confidence they need to invest and grow their operations.
