NAPLAN 2025 results show that St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School in Ascot recorded high averages across its Year 5 and Year 9 cohorts within the wider Queensland testing outcomes.
Strong Performance for St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School
St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School in Ascot recorded strong results across the 2025 NAPLAN assessments. The school’s Year 5 cohort achieved an average score of 543.4, based on results in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy. The Year 9 cohort achieved an average of 622.4, placing the school among Queensland’s highest-performing secondary-level groups for the year.
The school is an independent Prep–12 institution with 1,436 students, supported by an ICSEA value of 1158, placing it in the 96th percentile.

Statewide Trends
NAPLAN 2025 data released on 3 December 2025 showed Queensland achieving an 89.7 per cent participation rate, the highest since 2019. Around 1,800 more students undertook testing compared to 2024. More than 60 per cent of students across Queensland reached strong or exceeding levels in reading and numeracy.
Sunnybank Hills State School topped the Year 5 averages again, with Ipswich Grammar School and Citipointe Christian College also among the leading performers.
National Results and Areas of Concern
Nationwide findings published on 30 July showed that about one-third of students were not meeting literacy and numeracy expectations. Around 10 per cent required additional support, while roughly one-fifth were progressing towards expected levels.
ACARA noted improvements in numeracy for Years 5, 7 and 9, while highlighting ongoing gaps for remote students, Indigenous students and those experiencing disadvantage.

Rankings were drawn from combined averages of the five assessed NAPLAN areas, using data from the MySchool website. Schools with fewer than 20 enrolled students or missing subject results were not included.
Preparing Students for Testing
Readiness programs introduced across Queensland schools at the start of 2025 supported teachers and students in navigating the online assessments. Educators noted that while NAPLAN offers a standardised measure of literacy and numeracy, other learning areas remain essential for student development.
